Comic books are another category of collectibles, whether it’s about new ones or old comic books. If you want your child to have a hobby that will develop his imagination, you should encourage him to start collecting comic books. They are practically fairy tales, if we compare them with the violent computer games the children are playing those days. Also, they imply some actual reading – so, don’t underestimate the educational effect they might have on your child. And, who know, if you start collecting soon enough, the comic books could eventually pay your kid’s college, one day.
Toys that celebrate a real person or a character also make great collectibles. Superman, Barbie dolls, Star Wars figures, old or new, make kids of all ages really happy. What’s great about those toys is the fact they develop your child’s imagination in a way that modern toys, with many sounds, buttons and lights, can’t do. Collectible toys remind us of a simple world, where a child needed a single toy, maybe a car, maybe a doll or a soldier, to play and to be happy. It’s an important lesson, for parents and children.
